Mythbound
A downloadable game for Windows
Prototype Overview
This is a danmaku / bullet hell built around a simple idea taken to its extreme:
Power does not have a cap.
Power-ups are never replaced. They stack. Continuously.
Kuroko (you) becomes the sum of everything you have collected during the run, and the screen gradually reflects that escalation.
What begins as a familiar shooter slowly turns into something far less predictable as multiple effects overlap and your firepower grows beyond what the early stages seem to anticipate.
Setting
The final game is planned to draw from multiple world mythologies, but this prototype focuses entirely on Japanese mythology as a contained thematic slice of that larger vision.
A Note on How You Play
You are free to gather as much power as you can.
The game will not stop you.
But how you choose to play — how far you push that escalation — may matter more than it first appears, and things might change.
Additional notes
There are a few art assets done with AI, but most are made by a friend, and those made with AI will be removed ASAP.
I'm looking for both Sound Artists and Pixel Artists.
This is just a prototype, and any changes you want to propose are on the table! If there's anything you want to test, feel free to do so and we can test it together to see if it fits!
Character sprites were made by Juan Pablo Sanchez!
